BWHAFS works closely with WOMANKIND Worldwide. Most recent collaborations to date have included the writing of the Position Paper for the amendment of the FGM Bill, and work in partnership with the East Africa Four Literacies Programme.

WOMANKIND Worldwide, a UK based charity, works with over seventy partners in twenty countries worldwide.

They believe that the best people to women are women themselves and so work with local groups to help them find their own solutions.

They cover a variety of issues, from offering micro-credit to fighting agaisnt female genital mutilation, from educating girls to getting women into local government in India; and from combating domestic violence to running literacy classes in Latin America.

WOMANIKIND work with women and men to:

- Influence policy on women's rights.

- Strengthen non-governmental and community-based organisations addressing women's needs.

- Through local organisations, provide direct support to women's groups and to individual women.

- Raise general awareness and promote changes in attitude through public debate.

Their work includes:

- Basic literacy and skills based training

- Supporting income generating activities

- Tackling early marriage and forced marriage

- Taking practical action to eliminate female genital mutilation

- Addressing violence against women

- Encouraging women into leadership and local government

- Enabling women to understand and claim their rights
