Aims and Objectives

  • To promote the physical and mental health of women and their families.
  • To find new and holistic approaches to addressing health and social inequalities affecting black people.
  • To raise awareness on health issues affecting black people.
  • To campaign against the practise of FGM based on the fullest involvement of the women concerned and their families.
  • To promote research on the medical, social and psychological implications of FGM, sexual and general mental health.
  • To develop a network of information exchange with groups in the UK and overseas.
  • To improve on the access of families to health and social care provision.
  • To support socially excluded women, childrenĀ  and families in achieving their full potential through culturally appropriate educational, recreational and training opportunities.
  • To improve the achievement levels of black and ethnic minority children in schools and in a wider society so as to give them a better start in life.
  • To build on the strength of the local community to make a contribution to decision-making processes which affect their lives.
