To improve the health of black women

  • Promote the physical and mental health of women and families.
  • Find new ways of addressing health and social inequalities affecting black people.
  • Raise awareness on health issues affecting black people in the UK and overseas.
  • Improve access to health and social care provision.

To open up the discussion about FGM and it's effects

  • Campaign against the practice of FGM based on the fullest involvement of the women concerned and their families.
  • Promote research on the medical, social and psychological implications of FGM.
  • Develop a network of information exchange with groups in the UK and overseas.

To broaden oppourtunity for black women and their families

  • Support socially excluded women, children and families in achieving their full potential through culturally appropriate educational, recreational and training opportunities.
  • Improve the achievement levels of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) children to give them a better start in life.

To influence effective change

 To build on the strength of the local community to make a contribution to decision-making processes which affect their lives.
